Capturing Moments

“You reclaim your power by loving what you were once taught to hate.” – Bryant H. McGill

I enjoy landscape photography the most. It has been my preference ever since I got serious about photography back in 2018. However, lately I have found that I also enjoy capturing moments. Some of my favorite photos in the last year have been when I have photographed something that just happened. One of my favorite photos from the cruise we went on last winter was of the sunset at Tampa. Another moment I captured last year was a protest a month away from the presidential election last year. I have photos from different events at work and family events. Those are just a few examples of the photos I like to take.

On March 15, my son and I were driving that morning to get a haircut. While on the way there we saw a lot of smoke in the distance. At first, I thought it was fog, but it turns out it was a fire. The Morehead Tavern had caught on fire that morning. The entire building was engulfed in flames. Later that day, I was riding my bike near Uptown Charlotte, and I witnessed the aftermath of the fire. Firefighters were still putting our small fires within the destroyed structure. While the moment was a tragedy, thankfully no one was hurt.

Check out this video I captured of the aftermath of the fire.
