River on the Road

“All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on.” – Havelock Ellis

Am I the only photographer driving who wishes to photograph something I see? I know I am not the only one out there. Every time I take a longer trip, I see something interesting. I wish I could capture an image of it. I usually can’t stop because I don’t see it in time. Other times I have to keep going because the family wants me to get them somewhere. There is always some great view or something interesting to photograph. However, you can’t catch them all.

Last winter, the family and I took an 11-day cruise around the Caribbean. One of our stops was the Dominican Republic. We stopped at a butterfly sanctuary, wood carving, and a plantation. We rode to the different destinations in an open air bus, so we were able to see everything. On the way to the place I saw this river I wanted to photograph. I didn’t get my camera out in time. On the way back, I had my camera ready and I was able to capture it.

Here is a video of our view when we arrive in the Dominican Republic.
