Hanging in the Streets

“If it were not for hopes, the heart would break.” – Thomas Fuller

We all need ways to relax. I have been an elementary school teacher for over 12 years. The biggest lesson I have learned over the years is that taking a break is necessary to be successful. Most people think that in order to be successful, you have to work all the time. The truth is, success as a teacher comes in the classroom. If you do not have energy while you are in the classroom, you will not be successful. I knew teaching would be a take home job when I started. This doesn’t mean I need to stay up all hours of the night working. I make sure I take time during the week to have breaks and relax.

One of the ways that I relax is by engaging in my hobbies. If you haven’t figured it out by now, one of those hobbies is photography. My favorite type of photography is landscape photography. However, lately I have been challenging myself to do street photography. I don’t know if it’s because I captured everything I can in Charlotte, or I needed a new challenge. Here are some photos I took recently in the Southend Neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina. For some reason, black and white looks best for me when doing street photography.

Another way I relax is by riding my bike.
