“All great achievements require time.” – Maya Angelou

We get in this habit when offering people advice where we start the advice with phrase “have you tried…” While our intentions are usually good, and we want the best for those we help. However, we have this tendency to make it more about ourselves than the person we are speaking with. Many times, people have commented to me on Instagram. They tell me how to improve my photography. I appreciate feedback, however sometimes that feedback is given to brag about themselves. Of course, social media is an easy way to be rude to others. When I see feedback that I don’t agree with, I try to consider what their intentions are. It can range from offering honest advice to trying to flex. I had one guy tell me I just needed to buy better equipment. As someone who is on a teacher’s salary that is easier said than done. When it comes to giving advice try to make it about the person you are advising. Simply asking the at the end of the question the two words “for you” can go a long way.

I recently purchased a lens from Retropia. It uses recycled disposable camera lens for my Nikon Z7ii. It gives my photos a look that it was captured by a old film camera. I took these photos recently at one of my favorite places to visit Marshall Park in Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. I enjoy visiting this park because it’s close to my house, and it has a great view of Uptown Charlotte.
