Bike Rides and Photography

“Never deprive someone of hope; it might be all they have.” – H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

One of my favorite things to do in Charlotte, North Carolina is to ride my bike around town. I am fortunate to live close to some of the easiest places to ride in town. I am only a few blocks away from the most popular place to walk and ride, the Light Rail Trail. The Light Rail Trail goes through the Southend neighborhood all the way to Uptown Charlotte. The trail runs parallel to the light rail train. The trail is easy to walk or ride a bike on. It features several restaurants, coffee shops, retail, and more. I might ride the same route almost every time, but every time I ride it’s different. From people to festivals, you never know what you are going to see on the light rail trail.

The light rail trail has been a great location for me to practice different types of photography. With the number of people frequenting the trail it’s a great place to practice street photography. With some of the different views of Charlotte, landscape photography is always an option. In the spring, the cherry blossoms fill the area with a sea of pinks and whites, perfect for nature photography. Recently, I purchased a lens from Retropia Lens. I have been using it for the last few months. I have been enjoying the shots I have been capturing with it. The lens is made from recycled disposable cameras. This lens works best in bright sunlight, giving that feel of the shot being captured with a film camera. Here are a few photos I captured with the Retropia lens recently from the light rail trail.

Here is a POV video of me riding my bike on the rail trail.
