A Peaceful Location

“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.” – Samuel Beckett

I have been practicing photography since 2017 when we took our first cruise out of the country. The number one lesson I have learned since then is you don’t get better at it. You must practice to improve. I used to just take my camera out when we would travel out of the country. When Covid hit in 2020, all of my travel plans came to a crashing halt. We had plans that year, and they were all canceled. I didn’t like the idea of my camera just sitting in my bag. I had no idea how long that would be. Around that time, I started riding my bike because the gyms were closed. When I went out on my bike, I brought my camera with me. I started to take photos around Charlotte, and this became the time I was practicing my photography. Now I try to get out on my bike at least once a week. I capture photos wherever I go.

The photos featured on this post show one of my favorite spots to ride my bike to. It is located on the Little Sugar Creek Greenway in Charlotte, North Carolina. One thing I love about Charlotte is all of the bike and walking trails throughout the city. There are parts of Charlotte that can easily be accessed on a bicycle. I love this one spot in particular because the stream drowns out all of the sounds of the city. All you hear is the water rushing down.

A few months ago, I bought a lens from Retropia. This lens is made from recycled disposable cameras lens. It gives the effect that the shot was taken with a film camera. This is a great lens that works well in bright light conditions that might be unforgiving for my other lens. I love how it has those imperfections that come out with the different photos I capture.
