“Love is the attempt to form a friendship inspired by beauty.” – Marcus Tullius Cicero

One of my favorite things to do during the summer is to take an early morning bike ride. I enjoy doing this in the middle of the week. Typically, I can only ride my bike on the weekends during the school year. During the summer, I like to take advantage of going during the week. The place where I ride isn’t as crowded as it is on the weekends. I not only ride for fitness, I ride as a time to think and reflect. While I am on my bike the only thing I am distracted by is the road. My bike rides are my way to clear my thoughts and think about what is ahead.

The last ride I took was on a Thursday. It was a beautiful day outside, and it was looking like it would not get too hot that day. The weather was nice. I had the time, so I decided to take a little bit longer ride than usual. I rode over 12 miles that day. I started from my house. Then, I rode over to the light rail trail. This trail leads to Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. I took a detour on my way to Uptown, and rode towards Freedom Park. I normally go close to 10 miles, and the closer I got to mile 10, the more tired I felt. I thought it would be wise to take a break before heading back home. I stopped at a new coffee shop on my route called Night Swim Coffee. I stepped in, filled up my water bottle, and grabbed my usual Iced Americano with light cream and one stevia. It was really good, and they understood the definition of cream. I didn’t want to sit inside because I was smelly and sweaty. I found a nice spot out in the shade to relax and drink my coffee. While I was sitting out there, I decided to grab my camera and practice a little street photography. After I got my energy back, I headed back home.

Here is a POV video of me riding my bike.
