“It has been my experience that folks who have no vices have very few virtues.” – Abraham Lincoln

I think it’s official; I am a morning person. When I was younger, I never thought I would be someone who would get up early in the morning. My idea of an early morning used to be getting up at 7 am. Today, 7 am is my idea of sleeping in. It started when my kids began going to middle school. They had to be outside for the bus around 6:45 in the morning. Then, when they started high school, the bus arrives even earlier. On a typical school day, I have to get up around 5:30 in the morning. If you think about it, sleeping till 7 is a lot later than when I normally get up. Even during summer break, I rarely sleep past 8 in the morning. I’m okay with getting up early. I feel like I get to enjoy more of the day. I also get to enjoy being outside before it gets too hot.

During my winter break last year, my family and I took a cruise around the Caribbean. We stayed up late on New Year’s Eve to celebrate as a family. As soon as midnight hit, we went to bed. For some reason, I woke up before sunrise on New Year’s Day. I grabbed my camera, picked up a cup of coffee, and headed toward the top deck to watch the sunrise. Waking up early paid off because I was able to see and capture this amazing view.

Here is a video I captured of the same sunrise.
A gorgeous sunrise that makes it worth getting up so early. 👍🏾
