“Travel becomes a strategy for accumulating photographs.” – Susan Sontag

I bring my camera with me more than I probably should. It seems like you never know when an opportunity to capture a great photo will come up. Technically I always have a camera with me. My phone has a great camera on it. There are times when it just won’t do the job. I consider myself a photographer. I try to have my camera with me anytime we go out of town. It seems like when I don’t have it, an opportunity to capture some great photos comes up every time.

For the 4th of July this year, we visited my mom’s house in Georgia. We try to visit her when we can. When we visit her house, I usually bring my camera with me. Sometimes I take pictures, and sometimes I don’t. This time I am glad I brought my camera. I stepped outside to get something, and I noticed the sky looked incredible. I went back inside, and I grabbed my camera to snap away. Could I have used my phone? Yes, but I am glad I brought my camera with me. I was able to zoom in to where you didn’t see any of the houses. The only things that were in the frame were the trees and the sky.

I always bring my camera with me when we leave the country. Here is a sunrise I captured on New Years Morning.
