Keep Walking

“In matters of the heart, nothing is true except the improbable.” – Madame de Stael

Walking has become a normal part of my routine in the last few months. I started walking in the afternoons after work during the school year. I’m on my feet all day, but I have found a lot of benefits to taking walks every day. While I have seen improvement in my health because of my walks, I have seen other benefits as well. One, I get to see more of my neighborhood. Charlotte, North Carolina is one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States. My area has changed a lot in the last 5 years. It’s wild seeing how much it has changed. Two, I get to see more of the people who live around me. It’s good to know who your neighbors are. Three, it gives me a chance to practice my photography. If the weather is nice, I will bring my camera with me and capture whatever I see.

For the 4th of July, I visited my mom in Georgia. I decided that I wanted to keep up with walking while I was there. I typically get up earlier than my family. I would grab my camera, and take a walk around my mom’s neighborhood. All of these photos I captured were taken with a lens from a company called @retropiacam . I love this lens because it is lightweight. This makes it perfect to bring with me while on a walk. I also love that it is made from recycled disposable camera lenses. When I capture photos with it, it looks like the shot was captured with a film camera. It has various imperfections in the shot that give it a retro look. I also like how the lens doesn’t need to be focused. Just like an old-school disposable camera, all you have to do is point and shoot.
