“You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need.” – Vernon Howard

This might surprise you, but I didn’t start traveling until I was in my 30s. Sure, I visited places a few hours from our house, but we didn’t go that far. When we lived in Kentucky, most of our travel time was spent driving to visit family. Most of my travel was within the states of Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. I had been to a few other places, but primarily along the east coast of the United States. Today, I have visited over a dozen different countries. I have seen all kinds of different places and cultures. All of that started in 2017, when the family and I took our first cruise.

Our first cruise was based out of New Orleans. I had never visited the city before. As of today, New Orleans is the furthest west I have traveled. Before it was a city in Illinois called Metropolis. It’s a real place. It’s named after Superman’s hometown. They even have a giant Superman statue in the middle of town. Today, I can say New Orleans is the furthest west I have been. When we visited there, I wanted to check it out before we had to get on the boat. We took a walk over to Jackson Square. We had some beignets at Cafe du Monde, and I took some photos of the area.
