Sunset in Juneau

“A person who won’t read has no advantage over one who can’t read.” – Mark Twain

Visiting somewhere for the first time can be a long day. From walking around all day to seeing new things, it seems like the day will never stop. It’s the good kind of never stop though. I love visiting new places and seeing as much as I can in one day. The one nice thing about traveling on a cruise is that you have days when you don’t stop at a port. These are called sea days. Sea days are my rest days on a cruise. On days we visit a port, my goal is to keep going all day. I don’t want to miss anything.

Last summer the family and I took a cruise around the Inside Passage of Alaska. Our first stop in Alaska was its capital city, Juneau. Juneau is the only U.S. capital that cannot be accessed by road. No roads connect to Juneau from the rest of the state. It is also the largest city in the United States by land mass. The area of Juneau is larger than any other U.S. city. It’s a big place. After we explored Juneau for the day, we sat on our balcony watching the ship leave port. The sunset was beautiful that evening. I used my camera to capture a few more shots of Juneau.
