“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” – George Bernard Shaw

I am typically an early riser. I used not to be. My kids are in high school now. I have to get up early to make sure they get on the bus on time. Their bus pulls up next to our house a few minutes after 6. I have to wake up at 5:30 to make sure they get up. For me, sleeping in is sometime after 7. That is almost 2 hours later than when I normally get up. I have found that I like getting up early. I feel like I have more of a full day. Nothing beats a cup of coffee and a little peace before everyone gets up.

During my winter break last year, my family and I took a cruise around the Caribbean. We stayed up late on New Year’s Eve to celebrate as a family. As soon as midnight hit, we went to bed. For some reason, I woke up before sunrise on New Year’s Day. I grabbed my camera, picked up a cup of coffee, and headed toward the top deck to watch the sunrise. Waking up early paid off because I was able to see and capture this amazing view.
