“Obstacles are things a person sees when he takes his eyes off his goal.” – E. Joseph Cossman

I would describe myself as a morning person. I used not to be that way. The older I get, the more I appreciate quiet mornings. Some of my favorite mornings this summer were when I would get up before everyone else. I would have my coffee in my hand. An idea to post about would come to mind. My laptop would be ready for me to type away. These moments of peace I don’t get to experience often during the school year. My family and I get up at the same time. I need to make sure my kids catch their school bus on time. When I get these moments, I appreciate them. I enjoy the silence, and the time to reflect.

There are times when I try to sleep in. Last winter, the family and I took a cruise around the Caribbean. We visited the Dominican Republic, the British Virgin Islands, and Aruba. We spent Christmas and New Year’s on the boat. Last New Year’s Eve, I stayed up past midnight and then tried to sleep in. I woke up before sunrise. My wife heard me stirring around and suggested that I take my camera outside to see the sunrise. I am glad she suggested it because that was one of the most incredible sunrises I had ever seen. I kept snapping photos of it because every moment of it was amazing.
