Take a Walk in Juneau

“With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

I have always enjoyed hiking. Whenever I get the opportunity, I love to take a hike in the woods or around the lake. Since I live in an urban area, getting out in nature can be tricky. However, I have found that I enjoy a good neighborhood walk. While it might not be as secluded as a forest, I still get time outside and fresh air. These moments when I walk give me time to clear my head and to get away from screens. My rule is, while I walk I don’t look at my phone. I bring it with me in case something happens, but I don’t look at it while I am out. I sometimes like to take photos while out on my walk. If I do that, I bring my camera with me. It keeps me off my phone, and I get to practice my photography some.

Last July, the family and I took the trip of a lifetime. We took a cruise around the inside passage of Alaska. Our first stop was Juneau. We didn’t have anything planned for this stop. We spent the day exploring the town, window shopping, and checking out the amazing views. Juneau is one of the most unique of all the U.S. state capitols. It is the largest state capital by area. It is also the only state capital not connected to any other city by road. Even the capital of Hawaii is connected to other cities by road. The only way to get to Juneau is by boat or plane. We had a great time walking around the city, and I would love to go back.
