“Without art, the crudeness of reality would make the world unbearable.” – George Bernard Shaw

Juneau, Alaska is a unique place. There are only two ways to get, by plane or by boat. I had to take both to get there. I took a plane to Seattle, and then boarded a cruise that took me the rest of the way there. While traveling in Alaska, I understand why they call it “The Last Frontier.” I saw some of the most beautiful views I had ever seen. I captured over 2,000 photos while we were on this trip. My camera had more work on that trip than on any other.

Here are some facts about Juneau. 1) The only U.S. state capital not accessible by road. The only way to get to Juneau is either by boat or by plane. It’s not like you can get in the car and say, “Let’s drive to Juneau.” You have to either fly there or take a cruise. 2) The Largest U.S. city by area. Juneau, Alaska is 3,000 square miles. While it might not have the most people, it has the most land! 3) It rains on average, 230 days a year. When I visited Juneau I was very fortunate to visit on a day filled with sunshine. It does rain a lot in Juneau, but that doesn’t take its beauty away. 4) You have to visit here. This was the first stop on our 10-day cruise around Alaska, and it didn’t disappoint. We spent the day exploring the city, and seeing what it had to offer. I want to go back because there is so much to see and do here. I captured these photos while our cruise ship was making its way to Juneau.
