Make Memories

“The greatest use of a life is to spend it on something that will outlast it.” – William James

Recently I was reading online about families who have made travel a priority. Many people with children are taking big trips now as opposed to waiting until retirement. I get it. You never know what is going to happen between now and when you are older. Something might happen where you can’t travel like you want to. Also, people take big trips while they are younger because you can do more. Let’s be honest, when you get older you start to slow down. I know at 40 I am slower than I was at 30. Another reason is families want to expose their children to the world. Studies have found the more a child sees of the world, it helps them have a better perspective of it. My wife and I have embraced this mentality. We have taken our kids to over a dozen different countries and Alaska. They have seen as much of the world as I have. These memories we have made with them will outlast me.

One place I went to make memories at last spring was the Masters. Every year there 4 major golf tournaments. One them happens to be in the town where I grew up at every year. Getting tickets is tricky. You have to enter into a drawing and hope you win. Last year, we won and were able to go. It was great until the rain came, and they had to close the course. While I didn’t get to stay as long as I wanted to, I still had a great time. Since they closed the course early, the Masters allowed me to get tickets for next year. I will be back. Here are some of the photos I captured while I was there.
