“Every story I create, creates me. I write to create myself.” – Octavia E. Butler
Before 2017, I haven’t really left the Southeastern United States. When we lived in Kentucky, I visited a few places, but they were only a few hours from our house. That changed when we took our first cruise back in 2017 out of New Orleans. Here is a list of some of my favorite places I have visited.

Virgin Gorda – Here we snorkeled and hiked through caves. The hiking part was more than I signed up for, but it was still a great experience in the end.
Mount Rainer – I didn’t step foot on Mountain Rainer, but when you visit Seattle, Washington, you can miss it. I captured this photo while our cruise ship was leaving port on its way to Alaska.
McGalliard Falls – We ended up here because I searched for waterfalls near this apple orchard we were visiting. The photos I captured here felt like they were the subject of a landscape painting.

Anna Ruby Falls – Helen, Georgia is one of my favorite places to visit in the south. An easy walk to see some amazing falls.
Port of Nassau – The family and I have visited Nassau a few times, and have enjoyed each time. We have visited Nassau when it is pouring down rain and when the sun is shining. Nassau is a beautiful place with lots to see.
Juneau, Alaska – One of the most unique state capitals in the United States. The views and town are incredible.

Great White Pass – One of the most amazing train rides I have ever been on. The views here are spectacular.
Toccoa Falls – This waterfall is located on the college campus where my wife and I first met. We brought the kids here a few years ago, so they could see where it all began.
Butterfly Sanctuary – It’s been a long time since I have seen these many butterflies in one place.

Arts District – This part of Willemstad is dedicated to the arts. From various artists making their craft to murals on every turn.
Gaitlinburg, Tenn. – Some of my favorite photos that I have captured I took while stopping on the side of the road in Tennessee.
Southmountain State Park – A great place to hike and see some amazing waterfalls.

Chacchoben Mayan Ruins – Walking around here felt like being in a movie. Seeing these ruins in person allowed me to appreciate how amazing these structures were.
Great Smoky Mountains – No trip to North Carolina is complete without seeing these mountains.
Linville Falls – These are my favorite set of waterfalls that are a day trip away from my house.
