“The human race has one really effective weapon, and that is laughter.” – Mark Twain

I am currently reading a book about math instruction for fun. When it comes to reading, I have always preferred nonfiction over fiction. There are a few exceptions to that. I do love a good graphic novel. I was always a fan of Batman growing up before it was cool to be a fan of Batman. Typically, when I read, I am looking to learn something. In my current book, the author is trying to show the world how to teach math better. When I was going up, math was taught as there is one way to solve a problem and that’s it. I didn’t understand math while I was in school. When I started teaching math, and I saw that there was more than one way to see a math problem, I understood math better for myself and my students. One of the things the author promotes in the book is how everyone sees math differently. Diversity makes us better and stronger. It’s good for you to hear from diverse views in order to understand your fellow man better.

Last Christmas Break, the family and I visited some new countries while on a cruise. Our first stop was the Dominican Republic. Before we started our day, I grabbed my camera and took some photos of the island. It was a beautiful morning, and a great way to start our trip.
