The Neighborhood at Sunset

“It is better to rust out than wear out.” – Edwin Markham

I love a good sunset. When the family and I take a cruise, we search for the best spot. We want to check out the sunset. Depending on the trip, we will try to time things out where we can watch the sunset most evenings. I’m not sure exactly why I love a good sunset. It might be because of the change in color. The sky was blue, but is now filled with reds and oranges. It gives the appearance of being on fire. Or maybe it is because sunset marks the end of day. Sometimes it’s good for a day to end. If it was a rough day, it means tomorrow is coming with an opportunity to make it better. If it was a great day, a sunset is a way to close the day and an opportunity to reflect.

Earlier this year, I started walking around our neighborhood. Our neighborhood has changed a lot over the last few years, and I wanted to see how it is different. I also have been trying to lose weight, and nothing helps more than an evening walk. This is also one of the ways I unplug. When I take my walks, I keep my phone in my pocket and focus on what’s ahead of me. This keeps me from getting distracted and focus on reflecting. The only electronic I typically use on my evening walks is my camera. From street photography to capturing anything random I see. During one of my walks, I saw an amazing sunset happening before me. I grabbed my camera, and tried to capture the photos of it as best as I could.
