“True originality consists not in a new manner but in a new vision.” – Edith Wharton

Most of the photos I have captured someone has seen before. Typically, they are of a location or place that has been well traveled. In the case of when I capture photos in Charlotte, those locations have been well traveled by me. When I take photos, I try to show my perspective when I capture them. I try to show the world what I saw in that moment. That’s what photography is all about. It is capturing a moment through the perspective of the one taking the photo. This is why I write about the photos I capture. This way I can remember the moment, and to share what my perspective was in that moment.

These photos I will never be able to capture again. I took these photos back in 2020 when I first started riding my bike around Uptown Charlotte. This was only way to exercise at the time because most of the gyms were closed. This spot where I captured this sunset has dramatically changed in the last five years. What used to be a field is now filled with apartments and town homes. I remember the moment I captured this photo. I couldn’t believe how beautiful the sunset was that evening. It’s rare that I get to se this combination of colors in the city. I was glad that I had my camera with me in this moment so I could capture it.
