Find the Truth

“As writers, we owe it to those who might read us to seek the truth, no matter how messy or awkward.” – Thomas C. Foster

In the age of information, you would think that the truth would be something easy to find. Pull your phone, head over the Google, ask it question, and there is the answer you are looking for. When the internet was coming to age, this is what we were promised, and what we wanted. What happened? That will be something that scholars and historians will debate for years to come. The idea of the truth has been used since the beginning of recorded history to control and manipulate mankind. Writers have the used the truth to shape ideas and movements for generations. As writers in the 21st century, we have an obligation. We must look for the truth and share it with our readers. We shouldn’t use the truth to manipulate. Instead, we should use it to enlighten those who would take the time to hear what we have to say. Be honest with your audience about yourself and about the world around us. Convince the reader of the truth without the focus being your benefit.

I post about the different places I have visited. My goal is to tell you the truth about each visit. I don’t fabricate stories about my experiences or the places I have been. I simply want to share with you about the amazing places I have traveled to. My goal is to share with you how amazing the world is, and inspire you to visit these places yourself. Willemstad, Curaçao is a beautiful city. It is a place filled with an amazing coastline, amazing art, and beautiful beaches. One thing that makes the city unique is their development around the fort. It was built on the island hundreds of years ago to protect it. Instead of tearing down the structure, they are building in around it. The fort that we walked around when we visited had been converted into a shopping mall. I appreciate how they preserved and used the structure. I also got a great cup of coffee there.
