“Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony.” – Thomas Merton

I didn’t make any new plans for this new year. My goal is just to continue the good things I started doing last year. These include reading more and taking care of my health. I made some big changes in 2025, and I want to keep it up. Yesterday, I heard something that made me think about the new year differently. At church, the sermon focused on what we bring into the new year. Too often, we think about what we are going to do for ourselves in the new year. We often aim for personal improvement from weight loss to managing money better. Our new year goals tend to focus on how we can better ourselves. There is nothing wrong with those goals, but we should add one more to it. We need to ask ourselves what can we do for others in the new year. While New Year’s Day has come and gone, we can still add goals for the year. My goal in the next week is to add one more goal. My goal is going to focused on what I can do to improve the lives of others in 2026.

One of my favorite parts of 2025 was when we took the trip of a lifetime to Alaska. On that trip I captured over 2,000 photos. One of my favorite stops that we made was the Hubbard Glacier. Seeing glacier was amazing, but the view on the road to it was amazing as well. I spent most of the day outside on our balcony taking photos, and taking in the amazing views. These are just a few of the photos I captured on he way their. I used my Nikon Z7ii with a 500 mm lens to capture these shots.
