No Video, No Problem

“It’s always too early to quit.” – Norman Vincent Peale

I love my camera. It has been by my side on my greatest adventures since February 2024. While I have had it over two years now, I am still learning about the different features it has. I have always been a Nikon guy. It started when I bought my first DSLR camera at a pawn shop back in 2017. I wanted a good camera because I was taking my first trip out of the country. I wanted to be able to capture every moment. That camera was a Nikon D3200. It was a great little camera, and I capture some great shots with it. From Mayan Ruins to the mountains of the North Carolina. In 2020, people were selling off their camera equipment. I took advantage of this and got a great deal on a Nikon D7500. Great upgrade, and worked the same as my D3200. There was much of a learning curve there. In 2023, I got a huge bonus for my students test scores from the previous year. I decided to go mirror less with a Nikon Z7ii. It’s a great camera, and I am still learning some of the different tricks that it does. With all three of these cameras I have captured some amazing photos and great memories.

One thing about my Z7 that bothers me is its video quality with my longer lens. While recording video it focuses in and out, and the video isn’t the quality it prefer. With my 18 mm to 140 mm lens, it takes amazing video. When I use my 300 mm and higher, it can’t seem to maintain the focus I want. When we visited Sitka, Alaska last year, I was able to take photos of the whale. It was diving in and out of the water. I took some amazing photos of it. Seeing a humpbacked whale in the wild is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. The size and majesty of these creatures are hard to describe. I was able to capture several photos of the whale in a row. One neat feature about Instagram is you can hold the scroll dots below and create a stop motion affect. I didn’t get a video of him diving in and out of the water. However, you can see him dive by clicking the arrows from left to right.
