“Little minds are tamed and subdued by misfortune; but great minds rise above them.” – Washington Irving

We love headlines. Headlines have been a part of American journalism for hundreds of years. We love the headlines because they get our attention. We like it when things get our attention. A headline has a good way making us notice something and have an emotional response. We will make an entire system of ideas based off one headline. We see a caption in social media, news site, and a marquee on TV. We turn that into how we feel and think about a particular topic. What avoid is the details. We avoid reading the story that causes the author to write the headline, and portray the emotion of it. We go straight to the conclusion and not to the way. The headline is important. It will tell you the authors view of a subject, and how they think you should feel about it. It is up to us to be wise readers. We need to take a couple of moments and read why the author feels that way. If the author just has a headline about something, and offers no explanation as to why, we should pause. We should not jump to conclusions.

There is something about Instagram’s carousel posts that I dislike. You only see the first 5 to 6 words of the caption while scrolling. It’s easy to miss the details. I try to take a few moments to read captions when I see them. There is always more to a story than just an image. The details of our visit to the Hubbard Glacier remind of of how amazing that place is. It took us a few hours to get there from when we woke up that morning. The views on the way there were amazing. I opened up these photos last night on my computer. I was in awe of how amazing this place is. Looking at these photos reminded me of the moment I captured them. I remember standing out on our balcony with my camera using an over 300 mm lens. The lens was so heavy that my arm got tired at certain points. The air was chilly, but I had a great cup of coffee out there with me. My wife and I purchased the plan where we could get unlimited premium coffee while on the ship. Not only was my obsession with photography satisfied on this trip, but also my coffee addiction. These photos were some of my favorites that I captured.
