“If you can’t describe what you are doing as a process, you don’t know what you’re doing.” – W. Edwards Deming

When things are crazy sometimes the best thing we can do is get out and take a walk. Too often, we stay in the chaos instead of trying to take a moment and reflect. My way to do that is to exercise. Since it gets dark so early, my number one way has been to go to the gym. However, when school was closed I took advantage and got outside. I took some time, and took a walk around the neighborhood. It used to be my neighborhood didn’t have much to walk to. Across the street used to filled with warehouses and abandoned buildings. But that all changed a couple of years ago. Now we have several apartments, restaurants, stores and coffee shops. Now we have some walking spaces great for getting out and people watching.

A few weeks ago Charlotte was hit with a massive snow storm. I hadn’t seen this much snow at once since we lived in Kentucky. The entire city was shut down for days. Schools were closed for almost a entire week. I wanted to enjoy the snow as much as I can. I bundled up, grabbed my camera, and captured as many photos as possible before it melted. I used my lens from Retropia. I love this lens because it is lightweight. This makes it perfect to bring with me while on a walk. I also love that it is made from recycled disposable camera lenses. When I capture photos with it, it looks like the shot was captured with a film camera. It has various imperfections in the shot that give it a retro look. I also like how the lens doesn’t need to be focused. Just like an old-school disposable camera, all you have to do is point and shoot. For these shots, I captured them in black and white to bring out all of the details.
