“The eternal quest of the individual human being is to shatter his loneliness.” – Norman Cousins

It’s amazing how there are somethings in life that don’t take much, but can do a lot. Food coloring for example. In my science classes, I conduct this experiment. I have students observe how hot water and cold water interact with one another. I pour hot water and cold water inside a container with room temperature water. The only way they can see if react is if I put food coloring inside the hot and cold water. I use blue for the cold, and red for the hot. If you put too much of each color then the dyes mix with each other. If the dyes mix too early then the experiment fails. It only takes two drops of food coloring to get the job done. If you add too many, then it fails. When it comes to way we treat people, a little can do a lot. A little moment of kindness can go a long way. You help someone with something as simple as picking a dropped item. It might seem little to you, but it can mean a lot to others. Telling someone they look nice could go a long way. It could be the one thing they need to get a confidence boost for that day. Small moments matter.

Another example of little doing a lot is ice storms. A few weeks ago, an ice storm hit the Charlotte area. We had around 0.25 inch of ice during that event. That’s not a lot, but just enough to make the roads a slippery nightmare. If we got a half of an inch, then we would have seen serious power issues. That’s not that much more. A little ice does a lot of damage. We were very fortunate to not have that much hit our area. I did take advantage and take some photos of it. Walking the sidewalks of my neighborhood a little dangerous at times. I was able to take some great shots of the ice around my area.
