“I believe that every human mind feels pleasure in doing good to another.” – Thomas Jefferson

How do you feel when you miss out on something? Are you angry or disappointed? Maybe a little bit of both. As humans we love to feel that we are a part of something. We strive to feel like we are a part of something. What is something doesn’t want you a part of it? It’s a hard reality to face. We look online and see photos of people that we know, sometimes friends and family. Then we wonder why we are not there. Did we miss a message, or did we not even get one? Many thoughts run through our head, and as human beings, we typically think the worst. We think that maybe they don’t want us to be part of the group. Or maybe we were not really a part of it to begin with. It takes us time to process it. When I miss out and it hurts, I search for where I am included. I look for the place where I am welcomed. There are people in my life who want me in theirs. The places where I am included are where I put my time and energy in.

Photography is another area where I fear missing out of something. Whenever I go somewhere I fear that I will miss out on the perfect shots. I would hate to miss out on a moment that I will never be able to see again. Or worse, I take the photo, but the settings wrong. It hurts worse when I look back, and those photos look terrible. That’s why I practice with my camera as often as I do. I want to make sure I am ready to go before my next big adventure. Often times I get the most practice right in my own neighborhood. I went on a walk recently near my house with my camera to get some good shots. I used my lens from Retropia. I love this lens because it is lightweight. This makes it perfect to bring with me while on a walk. I also love that it is made from recycled disposable camera lenses. When I capture photos with it, it looks like the shot was captured with a film camera. It has various imperfections in the shot that give it a retro look. The more I practice with my camera, the less I fear missing out on a good shot.
