“Smell the roses. Smell the coffee. Whatever it is that makes you happy.” – Rita Moreno

Every time I go to a new place, I always want to find a good cup of coffee. It’s one of my favorite things to do. We do travel a lot. I am often finding new places to try out some good coffee. I try to avoid the big chains while we are traveling, unless we are on the interstate. Let’s be real. When you are driving down the highway, you need a clean bathroom more than a good coffee. When we visit a new place for the first time, we check where the good coffee shops are. Some would call my love for coffee an addiction. I think that is a very negative word. Coffee is not a negative drink. A good coffee, brings me a lot of joy. I think addiction is a mean word to attach to how much and often I enjoy coffee. I think habit is a much better word. I have a habit of waking up to a good cup of coffee. The smell and the taste gets me awake in the morning. After that first sip I am ready to take on the challenges of the day.

Last summer, when we took our cruise to Alaska, I had some of the best coffee. When my wife set up everything for us on the trip, she made sure I had unlimited premium coffee. The normal coffee that is served at the buffet is terrible. The onboard Starbucks has some good stuff. When I am on vacation, I want to enjoy myself. I want to relax, and appreciate the finer in life. Obviously, I am going to need good coffee while on board. I grabbed a coffee at about every stop that we were on off ship. Just about every single cup was a hit. Those folks in Alaska know how to make a good cup. When it comes to coffee, I am a man of simple taste. Typically, I get an Iced Americano with light cream and one stevia. I like the taste of coffee. I just need something to take the bitterness down a little bit.
