“It is easier to prevent bad habits than to break them.” – Benjamin Franklin

When it comes to going places, there are places we want to be and don’t want to be. If we wake up in the morning, and we are heading on vacation, that is where we want to be. Who doesn’t want to wake up and watch the sunrise over the ocean while on a cruise. But if we wake up early because we have an early meeting at work, who wants to do that. Not me. However, while sometimes we want to be somewhere or other times we don’t, we have to embrace where we are. I love to travel, but in order to be able to afford to travel, I have to work. Plane tickets are not free, and hotel rooms are not cheap. We have to embrace where we are in the moment. Be engaged in that work meeting. Everyone would rather be somewhere else. However, embracing where we are gives us an opportunity to make an impact. Next time while dreaming to be somewhere else, anchor yourself where you are. Take advantage of the opportunities ahead of you. This is how you experience growth.

Sometimes in photography we out there to take photos, and we don’t see what we wanted to see. That doesn’t mean there are not any moments to capture. This is why I started practicing street photography last year. I have photographed most my area, but it’s the people that make it different. This way I stay in practice before visiting somewhere new. Last winter, I was able to visit Discovery Cove in Orlando, Florida. Discovery Cove is a nature themed resort. We spent the day walking with flamingos, chilling in the lazy river, and snorkeling with the stingrays. I captured these photos while we were walking in the aviary. We were able to feed the birds and interact with them. I captured photos of them while we were there. Embracing the opportunities for photography at home, gave me the chance to capture there photos while away.
