“There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort.” – Jane Austen

Before March of 2020 it seemed like I spent more time away from home because it seemed like we were busy all the time. We had something going on almost every day of the week. Then March 2020 happened. It seemed like the world had shut down. Everything we had been active with had closed or was trying to survive on Zoom. I used to have this feeling that I had to go somewhere everyday. If we had a snow day, it drove me crazy because I couldn’t go anywhere. Now it seemed like leaving the house was deadly. After a few weeks I suddenly realized staying at home wasn’t that bad. Now, I am pretty used to staying at the house. Some weekends I don’t even leave. A couple of years ago that would have driven me crazy, but now I don’t mind it as much.

Our home has been in Charlotte now for almost 10 years. We moved here because we have family here, and I started teaching. One of my favorite places to visit in Charlotte is First Ward Park. It is one of those few places in Charlotte where you can see most of the cities skyline on the ground. I has a cool water feature, exercise equipment, and a huge field great for sports or just enjoying the day. A lot of times I will ride my bicycle here, lock it up, and just chill out just a cup of ice coffee. I typically bring my own ice coffee with me, but there is a great coffee shop right across the street that I like to stop by on occasion.
