Brain Time

“Genius ain’t anything more than elegant common sense.” – Josh Billings

As a 5th grade teacher, I often hear great ideas from them. It can range from anything about science to a good insight about life. Often times when they say it, I will have to correct their grammar. I try to teach them that if they speak correctly, then their intelligence will come out more. Often times people have great ideas, but they allow their emotions to either cloud their judgement or how their thoughts come out. Too often we are hyper focused to get our idea out in order to get a head that we don’t take the time to articulate our idea and ensure that it comes out the way we want to. I always tell my students to write it down first, then have it start to flesh out more. Whenever I have an idea about something, that is what I do, I write it down first.

I took these photos last fall. I had a hard time getting out to take photos last fall because the weather wasn’t cooperating, and I was super busy with life and work. I took these photos at one of my favorite parks in Charlotte to take photos is Marshall Park. It has a great view of uptown, and it is close to some of my favorite places in Charlotte.

  1. Another benefit I find with this sort of thing is it helps you realize perhaps this idea doesn’t need to be said at all — which ALSO helps you look more intelligent.
