Getting Lost

“The young man knows the rules, but the old man knows the exceptions.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.

Something I enjoy doing is just walking around with my camera to see what I can capture. When I go off the path, it is typically when I take some of my favorite photos. I remember when I was on a Caribbean Island, I was walking around an island, and was able to take a photo of an Iguana. Another time I was riding my bike around Fripp Island at sunset, and I was able to capture this photo of sun dropping behind this house on stilts. Often times when I ride my bike around Charlotte, I just go follow the greenway to see where it takes me. I have found different places that I had never been to before.

Last summer, I visited Hamilton Branch State Park to visit some family. We were staying in Augusta, and the park was close by so we headed up there for the afternoon. At one point everyone was swimming in the lake, so I decided to walk around with my camera for a little bit. Hamilton Branch State Park is located near the border of Georgia and South Carolina. The park sits on Strom Thurmond Lake. It has a few trails, a great view of the lake, and a nice campground.
