Intentions Without Execution

“Plans are only good intentions unless they immediately degenerate into hard work.”- Peter Drucker

We all have ideas. Some are good and some might need to stay in our heads. Too often what we do with our ideas is let them just sit there. They don’t go anywhere; they just stay in our heads. Often, we will do this when we see someone who might be in need. From a friend going through a hard time to seeing someone in need. We will think to ourselves that we should do something about that, but don’t because we don’t follow through. Often times following through doesn’t have to be complicated, but can something simple or we take that first step. Here are some ideas about what I mean.

1) If you know someone who is going through a hard time, a simple text message letting them know you are thinking about them can go a long way.

2) If you see there is a global problem, ask what small thing you can do to help, from giving a donation to voting in elections.

3) Have an idea to start a business, tell those who you are closest to about it. The more you talk about an idea, the easier it is to improve on it.

Having good intentions is a start, but following through is where we can start to achieve our goals.

It’s my goal every year to take photos when the leaves start to change colors. In order to do this I have to make plans and follow through with them. It’s one thing to say “I’m going to take photos.” It’s another to make plans and follow through with them. Last year, I wasn’t able to get the photos I wanted because it was either raining last year, or I spent most of fall fighting a nasty cold off. Life made it difficult to follow through. This year I am doing way better, so I have been trying to get out as much as I can. I have taken two trips to the mountains, and I have been around Charlotte a couple times over the last few weeks. I took these photos a few weekends ago at Marshall Park in Uptown Charlotte. I love how the entire scene at the park changes this time of the year.
