“Sweet mercy is nobility’s true badge.” – William Shakespeare

Typically, photos don’t have sounds with them, unless you use the Instagram feature and add music to your posts. To me, these photos don’t need a sound associated with them. For me, when I swipe through and look at these photos, I remember the sound of the creek that day. I remember the day before I drove up here, the weather forecast was calling for rain, but I decided to go anyway because this would be my last chance to travel to the mountains during the fall before all the leaves had fallen off of the trees. When I look at each one, I hear the sound of the creek rushing by me, and a gentle rain all around me. I also remember what I don’t hear, cars going by, horns, construction, and other sounds associated with the city. I love to visit the mountains for the opportunities to take photos, but I also love to just go and hear the mountains.

I took these photos last November when I took a trip to Curtis Creek. Curtis Creek is located near Old Fort, North Carolina. If you would like to visit, just Google Curtis Creek Campground, and it will take you there. What’s nice about Curtis Creek is you can see most of these great views from the side of the road. You don’t have to go on a long hike, just hop out of your car at different points.
