“Adventure is worthwhile.” – Aesop
I have always enjoyed riding my bike. I remember when I was a kid, I would ride my bike all around the neighborhood. I was fortunate to live near a large set of parking lots that I could ride around in safety as much as I wanted to. As I got older, I rode less and less. When I moved to Kentucky, I didn’t have anywhere to put a bicycle, so I had to give it up for a while. Fast forward when I moved to Charlotte, I started to ride around on occasion, but not too often.
I think we have a good idea of what happened in 2020. Covid shut down pretty much everything. At the time I was going to the gym at least twice a week, and now there was no way for me to go. I tried doing the work out with YouTube routine, but I didn’t really enjoy that. One day I pulled my bike out of the shed, and I started to ride around my neighborhood. My neighborhood is pretty small, so I then started to head further out. Next thing I know I’ve gone a couple of miles, and I figure the next time I will go even further.
When I started riding my bike further down, I started to see some of the cool sites around Charlotte. I hadn’t taken photos in a while because all of our travel plans were cancelled. I started to bring my camera with me while I rode my bike around town.
Today, I try to get out at least once a week on my bike depending on life and the weather. I typically stick with one route, but sometimes I change it up a little bit. Riding my bike has not only become one of the ways I get exercise in, but it is also the way I clear my head. I don’t look at my phone, check email, or look at anything school related while I am out. This allows me time to refocus on the challenges ahead.
What do you do to regain your focus?

Great photo! I haven’t rode a bike in many years. Meditation helps me refocus. Photography does to some extent as well.
