“Life lived for tomorrow will always be just a day away from being realized.” – Leo Buscaglia

I am not a Lightroom person. For those of you who don’t know, Lightroom is a popular photo editing software by Adobe. Instead for the last few years I have been using Photoshop. Photoshop does have good Raw editing capabilities. Yet, over the last few months, it has struggled to process my Raw format photos. I prefer the Raw format because I have way more control over how the photo turns out. I would use Lightroom, but I can’t justify an almost $200 a year expense for the software. The other day I was looking for a substitute, and I stumbled on to ON1. I figured Photoshop had not been working, so I would give it a try. I was impressed by the results. It allowed me to work with my photos in the Raw. Additionally, it was more effective for me than before. I still have a lot to learn about it, but so far so good.

The first photos I edited with the ON1 software were these photos I took on New Years Morning. The family and I took a 11 day cruise over winter break. I woke up right before sunrise, so I grabbed my camera and headed for the back of the ship. The view was absolutely amazing that morning.

Check out this video I made of the sunrise.
I used to use ON1 and absolutely loved it! That was until I discovered DxO PhotoLab and their Nik Collection plug-ins. Color Efex, Silver Efex, and Viveza plug-ins in Nik software would blow you away if you like ON1.
PhotoLab is just like ON1 but has better support for infrared, which is what I predominantly shoot, so I had to switch.
ON1 has an amazing preset library, but DxO Film Pack beats it by far with excellent renditions of just about any film I know of.
