“Give light and people will find the way.” – Ella Baker

What is your favorite thing about traveling? For me, I wish I could narrow it down to one thing. There are just so many things I enjoy about it. Going somewhere new for the first time is hard to describe. My camera captures the scene, but it’s hard to replicate that feeling. I also enjoy trying new foods and activities. I remember when we visited the Dominican Republic last winter, we visited a butterfly sanctuary. It was amazing seeing so many of them flying around me. Then later, we were able to try food from the region that was fantastic. I couldn’t tell you what was in it, but it was delicious. Then there is time for rest. I usually read at least a book or two while we are gone. I love being able to just relax. I can take my time and be on my own schedule. It is one of my favorite parts of vacation.

Obviously I take a lot of pictures while I travel. I bought my first DSLR when I left the country for the first time in 2017. I am now on my third camera since then. I bought a mirror-less Nikon Z7ii last year when I received a bonus from work. One of my goals is to capture at least one sunset and one sunrise while we are gone. I captured these photos on New Years Day while we were on a cruise in the Caribbean. I stayed up late on New Years Eve, but still somehow woke up early. I got up, I took my camera, and heading out to the deck for a cup of coffee. Here are some of the photos I captured that morning.

Here is a video of the same sunrise.
