“Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.” – Abraham Lincoln

My family and I love going on cruises. We went on our first cruise back in 2017. Since then, we try to go on one at least once a year as a family. From the views to the food, we have never had a bad experience on a cruise. We have had some inconveniences at times, but nothing to where I would say it was a terrible trip. There is one thing about taking a cruise that I don’t like. You will come to a stop, fall in love with the place, and then leave that evening. There are several places we have visited, and I would have stayed a few more days. Sometimes I feel like I didn’t have enough time with my camera to capture everything I saw. While it’s sad to leave a port, knowing there is another great one makes it better.

One port I was sad to leave last year was Willemstad, Curaçao. This might be one of my favorite ports that I have visited. We visited Willemstad during our cruise over winter break. Willemstad is the capital city of Curaçao, a Dutch Caribbean Island. It’s known for its old town center, with pastel-colored colonial architecture. The floating Queen Emma Bridge connects the Punda and Otrobanda neighborhoods across Sint Anna Bay. We first toured the Hato Caves, and then our bus took us to downtown Willemstad. We walked around the city. We saw all of the historical buildings. We also checked out some of the art in the city. After we got back on board, we had dinner together and then I walked around the deck. With my camera in hand, I was able to capture these photos of the sky. While I couldn’t see the sun, I was able to see it’s effects on the sky. The sun might have set on this part of our journey. However, I am always looking forward to what is next.
