“The best way out is always through.” – Robert Frost

When I am visiting somewhere, I always try to find out what the area is famous for. I know those are typically the most crowded places. It is fun to see why everyone is heading to that one place. When I get there, I prefer to explore and see what’s there. Often times I visit somewhere without a plan, and that’s how I like it. I like the plan to come together as we go. This way, I might see something that I wasn’t planning on seeing. Travel is more than just seeing the destination. It is about enjoying the journey to get, and appreciating what’s in between.

Last July, my family and I visited Seattle, Washington. The port for our Alaskan Cruise was there. Our flight from Seattle arrived late that evening. We barely had enough time for dinner. We had to be on our cruise the next morning. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to explore Seattle then. However, I wanted to explore what I could with my camera when I got on board. Once we got into our room, I got my camera ready and started walking around the ship seeing what I could capture with it. Obviously my first subject was going to be the Space Needle in Seattle. The haystack this needle sits in is pretty short, and it is an obvious sight in the skyline.
