“Words are but the signs of ideas.” – Samuel Johnson

When we think about great moments, we only think about that moment. Rarely do we consider what happens to those involved afterwards. We only think about the achievements, but rarely how the achievement affects those involved. I recently finished “Undaunted Courage.” This book told the told of Lewis and Clark’s adventure out west. There main achievement was being the first Americans to see the Pacific Ocean. That’s usually what we think about when they are mentioned. What we don’t talk about is the preparation before, and how the two men were after. Things did not go well for Meriwether Lewis after their adventure. He was appointed to be the governor of the Louisiana Territory by President Thomas Jefferson. It went so poorly that Lewis eventually killed himself. The whole story tells more than just the achievements, it paints a true picture of what happened.

At the beginning of February, Charlotte, North Carolina saw more snow that it had in a long time. A foot of snow was reported in the area. I haven’t seen that much snow since I moved here back in 2012. It was a beautiful sight when it came down. There was more to the snow than just the beautiful landscapes in my area. The city came to a stop. Roads were completely covered. Churches canceled services. Schools were closed for almost the entire week. Many city services like trash collection were delayed. However, it was fun while it lasted. I took advantage and captured as many photos of the snow as I could. I brought my camera with me while walking the neighborhood, but this time I used my lens from Retropia. I love this lens because it is lightweight. This makes it perfect to bring with me while on a walk. I also love that it is made from recycled disposable camera lenses, and it is easy to capture photos with.
