New Place

“We must go beyond textbooks, go out into the bypaths and untrodden depths of the wilderness and travel and explore and tell the world the glories of our journey.” – John Hope Franklin

One of my favorite things to do when I travel is just walk around. With my camera by my side, I love to just explore new place. From new towns to the woods, I could walk around all day. The thrill of being in a new place energizes while I explore. I love to see different shops, stops, and especially coffee shops. When I check out a new place, the first thing I will look for is a good coffee shop. I have had some of the best coffee at random hole in the wall places. After I find some good coffee, I look for places to take photos. I capture every step of the way with my camera, so I can remember the feeling of seeing it.

I captured these photos while in Juneau, Alaska. Here are some facts about Juneau. 1) The only U.S. state capital not accessible by road. The only way to get to Juneau is either by boat or plane. It’s not like you can get in the car and say, “Let’s drive to Juneau.” You have to either fly there or take a cruise. 2) The Largest U.S. city by area. Juneau, Alaska is 3,000 square miles. While it might not have the most people, it has the most land! 3) It rains on average, 230 days a year. When I visited Juneau I was very fortunate to visit on a day filled with sunshine. It does rain a lot in Juneau, but that doesn’t take its beauty away. 4) You have to visit here. This was the first stop on our 10-day cruise around Alaska, and it didn’t disappoint. We spent the day exploring the city, and seeing what it had to offer. I want to go back because there is so much to see and do here.
