“What you do today can improve all your tomorrows.” – Ralph Marston

Today is my last day of work until next school year. I am looking forward to a great summer filled with relaxation and rest. One big event we have planned this summer is that my wife and I are heading to Europe for a 10-day cruise. This will be our first big trip without the kids in years. In order for us to be able to take the cruise, we had to plan. We not only had to plan the trip out, but we also had to financially prepare for it as well. It wasn’t that we just woke up one morning and decided to go to Europe; we have been planning this trip since last summer. We started planning it while we were on our cruise to Alaska. It takes time to get ready for great events, and other parts of life are the same way. In my current role at work, I am an instructional leader. This means that I not only lead in my classroom, but I also lead adults in the building as well. To prepare for that role last summer, I read books and talked with others who already had the role. This helped me prepare for my role last school year. We can’t just walk into something and not be ready; we have to prepare ourselves for what is to come.

One way I like to prepare for my travels is to take photos of things around my hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. I love walking around with my camera and capturing what I see. One skill I have been practicing is street photography. You never know what you will photograph when your focus is on people. Here are a few shots from near my house.
