“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

A great trip is always something I look forward to. Whether I am traveling 50 miles or 500 miles, somewhere new or somewhere I have been, there is always something to see. We try to do a few fun trips with family once a year. We have traveled as far as Alaska and as close as the North Carolina mountains. From day trips to two-week stays, we are always looking for somewhere fun to visit.

Last winter break, my family and I took a trip to Orlando, Florida. I had been to Orlando before, but I hadn’t been there since I was a kid. It was almost like a new experience for me. Our main goal was to visit Discovery Cove and see the flamingos. My mom had wanted to do an experience with them, and we were able to make that happen for her at Christmastime. With our tickets to Discovery Cove, I was also able to get tickets to visit SeaWorld. The last time I went to SeaWorld was over 30 years ago. It was almost like a new experience for me. At Discovery Cove, we not only mingled with the flamingos, but we were also able to feed various birds in the aviary, swim in a heated lazy river, and snorkel with the stingrays. We couldn’t ride any of the rides at SeaWorld because it was so crowded, but we were able to check out the aquarium, watch the dolphins perform, walk with the penguins, and see the orcas do their thing. These are some of my favorite shots from that trip.
