“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” – Jim Rohn

One of my favorite things to do in my free time is read. One of my goals for the last year has been to make reading a priority. I read a variety of things, from books about how to lead better in education to the history of coffee to graphic novels. I like a variety because it keeps me interested. Right now I am reading a book that has been tough to get through. The first half was really good, and I enjoyed some of the thoughts the author had to share. Now I am in the second half, and he is basically repeating many of the same ideas he shared in the first half of the book. I was reading it on vacation, and ended up taking a break from it at one point because it was too much. Now that I am back in town, my goal is to finish the book in the next week. While it is not my favorite read, I still want to get it done.

Sometimes I have the same issue with photos I take. When I visit somewhere, I capture a lot of photos. It takes me a while to go through all of them. I used to just work on photos from one place and then move to the next. That kept me from appreciating the photos I had captured on those days. Now I bounce around from place to place to keep it interesting. I captured this set of photos at the Masters this spring. The Masters is one of the four major golf tournaments that happens each year. We were able to enjoy the first day of the practice rounds. We enjoyed a full day at the course, taking it all in. We saw a few famous golfers, ate the famous Masters food, and walked just about the entire course. The food there is well-known Southern staples, from pimento cheese sandwiches to peach ice cream. I must have eaten four sandwiches while I was there. Since it was the practice round, I was able to bring my camera and take photos. You cannot bring your cell phone into the Masters. They are strict about that. If you get caught with your phone, you can never buy tickets again. They do not like any distractions on the course. There are phones that you can use to call people while you are there. Just hope you remember the number because you won’t have your cell phone on you. Here are a few that I captured that day.
