Typically, when we think about a journey, we only focus on the beginning and the end. Rarely does the middle come to mind. The beginning marks the promise of something new, and the end marks the completion of the journey. The middle is often the most missed-out part of the journey when we think about it. We don’t want to think about it because the middle is often the hardest part. The middle is where we keep going, and often do not see any of the results of our hard work. For example, as a teacher, I don’t see the fullness of the work I did that school year until the end-of-year testing. I have students that I work with all year, and I don’t see the full results of their hard work until the end of the school year. But between the first day of school and the last, I witness so many moments when students learn and understand something for the first time. That is the part that makes me the most excited. The end is great, but watching them learn is the best part.
One of my favorite waterfalls to visit in Northeast Georgia is Anna Ruby Falls. Anna Ruby Falls is located a few miles outside of Helen, Georgia. For a small fee and a short walk, you can visit the falls. The drive to the falls is beautiful. You take this winding road, and there are a couple of falls you can see as you drive up. These photos that I am posting, I captured while we were walking up to the falls. It takes me 5 times as long to get to the top because I can’t stop snapping photos every few seconds.
