Self Improvement

“There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self.” – Aldous Huxley

So many times we want to see things around us improve. We look at the world and want things to be better for our benefit and for the benefit of others. We look for ways to improve the world, and find that the task feels almost impossible. Before we look to improve the world, we need to start with what we can control: ourselves. Too often we look outward, and we need to look inward. If we start by seeing how we can become better people, that gives us a window to see how to improve the world. I’m not saying we need to be perfect to make a difference, but what I am saying is we need to see how to improve ourselves in preparation for making the world a better place. We can’t improve those around us if we don’t try to make ourselves better.

After Christmas, the family and I traveled to Orlando, Florida, during winter break. We went to Discovery Cove to see the Flamingos, but there was so much more there. One of our favorite experiences was hanging out in the Aviary. It featured a variety of birds that we could observe, interact with, and feed. The entire time, I alternated between holding my camera in my hand and feeding them. The birds here were very friendly and fun to hang out with.

Check out this video of me snorkeling while at Discovery Cove.
