A Little Passion

“If you aren’t fired with enthusiasm, you will be fired with enthusiasm.” – Vince Lombardi

When I take a photo of something, I usually get excited, especially if I believe the photo will turn out great. There are times while going through photos when I am surprised at how well they turned out, even when I didn’t think they would be that good at the time. If we enjoy doing something, we should get excited about it. If I didn’t enjoy photography or writing about it, I doubt I would be posting about it. A good social media profile should show off someone’s passions. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it should show what you enjoy doing.

When our cruise arrived at IJmuiden, Netherlands, we were hoping to take a bus to Amsterdam. Unfortunately, when we walked off the boat, there were no more buses available. Sadly, we couldn’t go. We settled for taking a walk around the port and seeing the sights that were there. IJmuiden is filled with old bunkers and lighthouses. The bunkers in IJmuiden were part of Nazi Germany’s Atlantic Wall. The Atlantic Wall was built by Nazi Germany along the western coast of Europe during the Second World War. Its purpose was to prevent an Allied invasion of occupied territory. The defensive line ran from Norway, through Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium, all the way to France, near the border with Spain. The bunkers here in IJmuiden have seen better days. Since these bunkers were built by the Nazis, I’m sure there isn’t much love for them. Most of the standing ones have been covered in graffiti.

Lage Vuurtoren van IJmuiden is a historic 24-meter cast-iron tower located at Seinpostweg 19 in IJmuiden, Netherlands. Designed by Quirinus Harder and built in 1878, it works with the taller High Lighthouse to guide ships from the North Sea.
