Get Outside

“He is not a lover who does not love forever.” – Euripides

It has been hot and stormy here the last few weeks. It’s hot during the day and raining in the evenings. I love being outside, but if I wait until closer to lunch time it’s too hot for me. I prefer to go outside in the mornings. It’s also summer time. As a school teacher on summer break, I love not having to wake up to an alarm. I don’t move as fast in the mornings as I did during the school year. I want to enjoy this time. I do make getting outside a priority by either taking walks around the neighborhood or working in the yard.

Another way I enjoy being outside is riding my bike through Charlotte, North Carolina. I have a few spots I love to visit, but one of my favorites is Freedom Park. When I visit, I usually bring my camera with me. Lately I have been practicing street photography. I started doing street photography after a day of bike riding. I realized I didn’t see anything worth capturing with my camera. I just started to take photos of the people I see. It’s weird sometimes because I’m sure people don’t like me taking their picture. I try to be discreet about it. Seeing some guy with a giant lens on their camera isn’t that discreet. I use my 50-300mm lens because I can get better close ups without getting in people faces.
