“Some people think they are concentrating when they’re merely worrying.” – Bobby Jones

I grew up in Augusta, Georgia. Augusta is known for a few things. It was once the capital of Georgia. It was home to the famous singer James Brown. It’s mainly known for the Masters. The Masters is one of the four major golf tournaments each year. Going there is one of the most unique golf experiences. When I tell people that I grew up in Augusta, they typically ask if I had been to the Masters. If you’re from Augusta, then it must be easy to go. That’s not necessarily true. In order to get tickets, you have to enter a lottery each year and hope they pick your name. I have been trying to get Masters tickets since we moved to North Carolina back in 2012. Last year, I finally won. I was able to purchase four tickets to the first practice round. We planned the weekend out, and headed to Augusta the day before. Then it rained really badly. After we finished up at the gift shop, lightning was in the area and they had to close the course. However, I did get a refund, and the opportunity to go again this year.

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect this year. We enjoyed a full day at the course taking it all in. We saw a few famous golfers, ate the famous Masters food, and walked just about the entire course. The food there is well-known Southern staples. From pimento cheese sandwiches to peach ice cream. I must have eaten four sandwiches while I was there. Since it was the practice round, I was able to bring my camera and take photos. You cannot bring your cell phone into the Masters. They are strict about that. If you get caught with your phone, you can never buy tickets again. They do not like any distractions on the course. There are phones that you can use to call people while you are there. Just hope you remember the number because you won’t have your cell phone on you. Since I just got back in town yesterday, I haven’t had the chance to go through all of the photos I captured. Here are a few that I captured that day. From the food to the course, it was a great day.
